Griffith Park: so many things to do....

Another place in Hollywood that you should visit is Griffith Park.  There are so many things you can do there and it’s truly a family outing place: the zoo, the picnic area, and pony rides are so much fun for kids...  The link will take you to the list of all activities and attractions, but the jewel of Griffith Park is the Observatory.  Besides having the best view of Los Angeles, which is probably the least impressive feature of this place, the observatory has permanent exhibits and shows, and almost all of them are free. Your guests will not be disappointed, and you will be looking forward to returning to this place again.

  1. I love the Griffith park...there is so much to do there. Two summers ago I was going hiking once a week. There was this one long trails that I used to take, one that started at one of the entrances of the park and went all the way past the Observatory to the Hollywood sign. That was a long hike that used to take me about 3 hours both ways. When I got to the top of the mountain I would be looking down at the Hollywood sign with a wonderful view of L.A. I would sit there, eat an apple, drink some water and just think about life!!! i loved doing that!!!!

  2. I've been here many, many, years and I have never gone to Griffith park. I have been to the zoo, but I have not ventured out beyond the zoo. You have motivated me to take the time to explore Griffith park in depth. I will be going there soon!

  3. I've been there a couple of times too. I really wish that I could have gone there to see the solar eclipse this past Sunday. The next one visible from L.A. won't be until 2071...=(

  4. Don't feel bad about "missing" the solar eclipse. First of all, it was only partial. Most importantly, the observatory was sooo crowded; it was crazy up there. My friends and I arrived at Griffith Observatory 2 hours before the eclipse, but all parking spots had already been taken. If we would have parked in the available areas, it would have taken us 40 minutes hiking up the hill to get to the observatory, so we decided to abandon the idea.
Luckily, our neighbors had special glasses that allow you to look at the sun and they shared them with us. I think that's why many people wanted to go to the observatory (to use these glasses, otherwise the sun is accessible from anywhere). It was an incredible experience and I hope you won't miss the next eclipse in 2071!

  5. Hi. I have been there right after I came here. Unfortunately, the observatory was closed that time. I will take the time to explore observatory after finishing my quarter. I have something to ask you. If you don't mind could you provide us with direction to get to the Hollywood sign closer?
